"Kelly Williams helps women. Sisters in search of lost siblings. Wives determined to uncover affairs. Daughters tracking down missing fathers. Women come to her because she listens, and she believes them. Kelly is a Dolly Parton-loving, stiletto-wearing private investigator in Nashville. Her latest client is Sarah-Faith Owens, who comes to Kelly after receiving threatening messages. Kelly takes the case, because she knows better than anyone the dangers of a stalker. It's only later when she learns that Sarah is actually the beloved, polarizing musician Seraph, leader of the band The Garden Snakes. Sarah's feminist lyrics, literary imagery, and hidden Easter eggs have drawn them a huge, dedicated fanbase. At that level of fame, her stalker could be anyone. Just as Kelly's investigation gets going, Sarah is shot while performing on stage and the ambulance with her body disappears on the way to the hospital. What Kelly thought was a simple stalker case is now a complicated homicide. But Kelly remains undeterred-she owes it to Sarah, and to herself. Intertwining Kelly's investigation with the formative days of Sarah's career, Indie Darling is an immensely clever and page-turning work of suspense that is also a powerful meditation on the blessings and the burdens of being a female artist"--Provided by publisher.
