This report is based on tabulations of a five-percent sample of the population returns and presents data on usual occupations of the labor force and of persons not in the labor force, by employment status and personal characteristics. These statistics are designed for the analysis of the incidence of unemployment upon various occupational groups, for the study of occupational shifts during the period of large-scale unemployment in which the census was taken, and for a description of the occupational skills to be found among possible recruits to the labor force"--Page iii.
