2024 HCL Pride: Two-Spirit Titles
The titles from our official 2024 Hennepin County Library Pride booklists. These titles feature queer Indigenous leads and are a mix of adult, teen, and youth materials. Two-Spirit refers to a person who identifies as having both a masculine and a feminine spirit, and this term is used by some Indigenous people to describe their sexual, gender and/or spiritual identity. As a pan-Indian umbrella term, it may encompass same-sex attraction and a wide variety of gender variance, including people who might be described in Western culture as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, genderqueer, etc. This list was also compiled in partnership with Makoce, a team of Native American library staff and allies at HCL.
