This is a moving memoir by a daughter in search of healing after her mother was murdered. Natasha Trethewey is a former Poet Laureate and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Her skill at crafting words comes across in this beautiful but haunting memoir. It is sometimes hard to read because you find yourself wanting to protect both Natasha and her mother and desperately wanting a different outcome. I have a feeling that this is one of those books that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend.
