May 29, 2015TheresaAJ rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
This memoir by NPR's Scott Simon recounts his last days with his mother in a Chicago hospital's ICU unit. Patricia Lyons Simon Newman Gelman raised Scott during the 1960s as a single mother who worked many jobs to provide. Although working in nightclubs, high-end retail stores, and modeling sounds glamorous, the work definitely was not. This book shares Pat's and Scott's life together in stories, songs, jokes, and other memories of a life well lived. The author tweeted many messages about his mother's final days in July 2013 and suddenly found himself with over a million followers.
