Don't get me wrong, it was a terrible adaptation (and a pretty bad movie) but it was funny. I watched it at 1.5x speed and did CinemaSins commentary (Narration! *ding* (There was a lot of narration.)). I wouldn't have known any time passed at the beginning if I didn't already know what the number on Lena's hand meant from the book, the way it plays out it looks like it's all in the same day (even though it's something like a week). A lot of the magic stuff is thrown in at random and seems to break the world (like, how are we supposed to know what is and what isn't possible when mortals are doing magic and Casters seem to be able to do everything and anything on a whim even though they're supposed to have specific talents? And none of it is explained. If I hadn't read the books I wouldn't know that Lena being a Natural meant something important and that Larkin's talent was illusion powers). Basically, if you haven't read the books (all the books, because the ending is from book three or something) then this movie will be a confused, disjointed mess. If you have read the books it's still confused and disjointed, but you'll transplant the book plot into the movie and probably rant when they change half of it. But it was funny.
