One of the reasons author Agatha Christie was so popular in her early days, this book came out in 1937, was the travelogue component of her books at a time when few people could afford to get travel fever. Egypt, Cairo and the Nile with their exotic antiquities was just such a destination. Hercule Poirot is on vacation and takes the Karnak up river on a seven day cruise. He is surprised to encounter an old friend Captain Race. They could be on board with three different criminals, a terrorist, a thief, and a murderer. Or is it four? Are they one and the same? Are they even here? Linnet Doyle, a fabulously wealthy, beautiful and young woman on her honeymoon is also on board with husband Simon. As her enemies pile up, Poirot senses danger and sets out to warn some of the passengers. We should all take a trip up the Nile with Christie and her detective - even for a second time!
