"The scene in the West Village studio appears to be a classic crime-of-passion: two wineglasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in. But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don't add up. Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancé as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body - but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things? As Eve and her team look into Gwen, her past, and the people around her, they find that the lies are about more than murder. As with sculpture, they need to chip away at the layers of deception to find the shape within - and soon they're getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy."--Publisher.

A really great book, fast paced, many twists and turns, am sure some of the situations in the book do exist and Eve, Roarke and the other characters in the book seemed more mature, definitely one of the best.

This didn't feel or read like a J.D. Robb book to me. Eve didn't seem like Eve. Like herself. And the same with Peabody.
It almost seemed to me like someone else wrote this book for her. A ghost writer or something. I've read all her "In Death" books and although I can't say I disliked this one, it just wasn't the same. I read them for the personalities of the characters, and they seemed like different people here.

Thought this book was one of JD Robb’s was very interesting as you can see a familiar setting to one of the well known Scientology groups. There is a great storyline. Enjoy this book.

I was part way through the first quarter of the book, and wondered how the rest of the book was going to go as it seemed fairly "normal" at that point. Then it went sideways.
Really great story and not what I expected.

I read this book in 2 days. Couldn't put it down. I love this series and can't wait for the next book.

What starts off as what looks like a fairly routine murder ( if there is such a thing ) turns into an in depth look at a religious cult with a far reaching scope. Dallas & Peabody have to dig deep to weed out all of the lies to find out the truth. There is a moment of exceptional good news for Mavis & Leonardo fans.
