2012. Tuesday Mooney keeps to herself, begrudgingly socializes, and spends much of her time watching DVDs of old TV shows. Teams from around the city vie for the prize: a share of Pryce's immense wealth. The clues involve knowledge, wit-- and the courage to face painful ghosts from their pasts. -- adapted from jacket

Tuesday Mooney, having carefully structured her life so that the death of her best friend when she was a teen is contained, must confront her past when an eccentric billionaire dies and his will invites the city of Boston to solve a wild treasure hunt puzzle that ends up with a confrontation in a spooky old mansion. If you like found family, mysteries, and puzzles, this is the book for you.

Quirky, full of twists and turns. You never know when an umbrella might save your life.

A fun adventure mystery novel. Tuesday Mooney likes her job and she is good at it. Readers follow Tuesday, a researcher who works by herself and doesn't have many friends, as well as some characters she meets along the way as they try to solve a puzzle in a race against each other to become an heir. Rich eccentric Vincent Pryce (not that one), dies and sets out a quest for the city to follow clues to win part of his estate. Tuesday learns how to deal with her past and grows as a person as she researches her way through a race across her city and into the past.

Super fun and cute. If you loved Raskin's "The Westing Game" when you were young, then this feels very much like that book for grown ups. It also brings all the single thirtysomething "finding yourself" feels.

This is a real fun and mysterious read - Tuesday Mooney does research to find philanthropists for the hospital she works for, but when one of the most famous rich men in Boston dies, he promises riches to the solvers of the puzzle which may or may not be related to his death and other mysteries..... Mayhem ensues! A really great cast supports this cipher of a novel. Definitely one of the best I have read this winter.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Utterly unique and thoroughly entertaining...

PLOT SUMMARY: Tuesday Mooney is an independent, fulfilled woman who doesn’t need anything other than her work and her trivia nights. She’s all good, right? Right? Pushing people away has become like second nature to Tuesday, that is until best friend Dex, next door neighbour Dorry and mysterious stranger Archie enter her life and push her completely out of her comfort zone.

When Vincent Pryce dies, leaving a cryptic opportunity in his will, Tuesday is caught up in the excitement and challenge like never before. Will she be the one to solve this mystery? Will this offbeat, goth loving gal learn to open her heart and truly let others in? And just who is pulling the strings in this game - and can they be trusted? What exactly is awaiting all these would-be treasure hunters at the end?

PROS: What is this book? Is it a comedy? A mystery? A romance? A ghost story? It’s all of these things and more. In Tuesday Mooney, we meet a character who is independent yet vulnerable, practical yet romantic, haunted yet full of life. The scavenger hunt/game premise was a great plot device to expose our heroine to many characters/friends/adversaries, and to move the story along to its’ conclusion.

CONS: The title screams Young Adult/Middle-Grade, but the content is adult, so that is a bit confusing. Also I felt there were some important bits at the end that were not tied up to my satisfaction. Finally...is there such a thing as too much plot????? Is that a thing??? If so, this book may be teetering on the edge of having a bit too much going on!

YES or NO: Overall it’s a YES - unique, original subject matter with an author who is truly grateful to be published - her humble, grateful attitude (as seen in the acknowledgements) is refreshingly welcome, as is this quirky, well written novel. If you’re looking for something a little different, this might be the one for you!

This is a book to love. It's an adventure around Boston, a mystery, a little bit of romance. Characters are older, younger, quirky, witty and real. It was just plain, outrageous fun. I'd put it in the realm of "Where'd You Go, Bernadette?"

I just loved this one! A gothic "Ready Player One" --a city-wide scavenger hunt and competitors who all have something to hide. Its a great exploration of friendship and grief and a beautiful love letter to the city of Boston. I highly recommend it.

I really, really loved this.

It is, simultaneously, a madcap clue-filled puzzle treasure hunt spread out over Boston, and also a rumination on the way we settle into adult lives that may not fit our true selves and whether it's possible to redirect midstream to something that feels more authentic. And it manages to be really good on both fronts.
