Add a CommentI read this book out loud to a group of second graders. At the end we talked about what it meant when the main character drew her neighbor a map INTO the world, not OF it. We talked about grief and how we help others when they're sad.
I personally loved this one - the art is phenomenal and it was a beautiful snapshot of what can happen in a neighborhood and family over the course of a few months.
While a bit meandering and unfocused in how it tells its story of kindness, empathy, and community, A Map to the World offers an inclusive look into how important it is to keep and eye on and help each other when we can.
Set in Minnesota, this is a beautiful picture book about neighbors, community and the changing seasons of the year and life. I highly recommend it for readers of all ages, especially adults.
