Scorpion is Drake’s fifth album consisting of 25 songs. This album was released in June 29, 2018. The music labels involved in this project is, republic records, cash money records, and young money entertainment. Drake’s scorpion was one of his most successful project as it racked in over 1 billion streams in the first week, and recently broke the record of 50 billion global streams. In my opinion what made this project so special is that it had two sides, (the first side was a fast paced hip hop, and the second side was a more slowed down R&B and pop). The reason I found this so special is because there was something for everyone on this project. Even if you didn’t like Drake’s music, you could probably find something to listen to on this album. In side A drake was trying to prove himself to the audience and acknowledge everything he had to overcome in the past. Although in side A Drake raps over fast paced, high base instrumentals that get stuck in your head which causes a huge replay value. In my opinion side B is the better side because it got more relatable for me. There is a huge difference in the vibe given off on side B, as it is much more slowed down. Instead of Drake trying to overcome his obstacles like in side A, in side B Drake becomes much more vulnerable and expresses his feelings. Also one of the main themes of this project is, Drake trying to get used to his new life of being a co-parent raising a child. You should definitely check out this project to enjoy an experience and story. 4.3/5 Stars. @ButterChicken of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
Drake's fifth album "Scorpion" is one of the most popular and biggest albums that were featured in 2018, maybe even the biggest. The album is a double album that consists of 25 songs with one side being hip hop and rap and the other side being R&B. There are more than enough songs to listen to in this album and include two different types of genres of music so, you can listen to two different genres and listen to which one you like more. Hip hop and rap is more of the fast-paced songs but have lots of meanings in the words that are sung which are shown by Drake in this album a lot. R&B is more of the rhythmic blues flow so it tends to be slower than rap but sometimes relaxing to listen and dance! The most popular songs in this album are In My Feelings, Nonstop, God's Plan, Nice for What, and Mob Ties. The most popular song has to go to either God's Plan or In My Feelings because both have incredible amounts of views and streams. Personally, my favorite song in this album was Nice for What because the song was somewhat addictive for me to listen to and the melody in the song is really catchy. I would for sure recommend this album to basically anyone from teenagers and up. 5 out of 5. @Self-Disciplined of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
