I recommend this book to people who like magic. There is a sorceress who is very evil and destroys a castle! There is also a knight with an enchanted sword that shoots lasers. I liked this book because it made my imagination go wild.

I like this book because it is imaginative on a very high level and because it isn't so sexist!🏅

A neighborhood of kids create their own fantasy kingdom and vibrant adventures. Quick chapters introduce the imaginative bunch, who work together to create a summer to remember.

I loved this graphic novel. I love stories that show us a child's imagination alongside the everyday objects they use in their play. Cardboard Kingdom also LGBTQ+ friendly.

A neighborhood where kids spend their summer using cardboard/tape/paint/bathrobes/ even a lemonade stand to create and identify themselves as people of the Cardboard Kingdom! Super fun optimistic and good humored Graphic Novel that every kid, parent, teacher, librarian or adult with an imagination or who needs that imagination re-ignited should read!

A graphic novel about imaginative play throughout the Summer in an uber inclusive neighborhood. Lot of fun...and empowering.

A delightful comic that is great for young and older audiences alike. The characters are children with wild imaginations that allow them to make personas of all kinds-- big, evil, small and brainy-- all suited to bring out their personalities and embrace the best parts of themselves. It's really wonderful seeing all of the unique ideas they come up with, and there is excellent representation for diverse cultures and family situations. The book isn't afraid to talk about some real issues that kids could go through, too. To top it all off, the art is absolutely charming. I personally loved the progression of characters, which you get to see if you give this lovely book a read!

Such a lovey collection of stories about kids in the neighbourhood making their alter-egos in the Cardboard Kingdom. This is a perfect little graphic novel for kids.

My kids (9 and 11) love this book so much! Each of them has read it multiple times and it has inspired them to create their own characters. The kids in the story face real-life challenges - big and small - and find ways to feel empowered and embody the strengths of their make-believe personas. Highly recommended!
