"Conrad Black, bestselling author of Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Champion of Freedom and Richard M. Nixon: A Life in Full, turns his attention to his "friend" President Donald J. Trump and provides the most intriguing and significant analysis yet of Trump's political rise. Ambitious in intellectual scope, contrarian in many of its opinions, and admirably concise, this is surely set to be one of the most provocative political books you are likely to read this year"--Amazon.com.

If you want to understand Donald Trump in any real way, this isn't a book that will tell you much that Trump hasn't already bragged about in any of his ghost-written books.

Remember, Conrad Black is a convicted felon, so he's surely sucking for a pardon.

He's swallowed Trump's self-made mythology whole, and simply repeats it is this book along with snide dismissals of anyone who says otherwise and fawning sycophancy reminiscent of the courtiers of Louis the 16th, all wrapped in Conrad's usual "I know more big words than you" verbal masturbation.

accurate and tedious short +++

I too recommend this book as a must read for anyone who wants to catch the opportunity of a better understanding the President Donald Trump and the country he leads in 2018. It is not the first time that Conrad Black is accurately bio-graphing political figures in US and Canada. Conrad's rich language and tedious accuracy in reporting is quite rare in political writing.

Given the contempt and loathing Trump has aroused since he announced his candidacy, I have avoided reading about the man in the fight between The Gray Lady and WaPo as to who can get the grubbiest details about this guy. He has been defended by Conrad Black, a noted political biographer and historian, so checked this book out to understand Black's reasoning. This is one of Mr. Black's lighter efforts and a quick read: the warts are there but also the accomplishments. While reading this, George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman kept coming to mind.

Donald J. Trump comes out of the business world and is quite different from any president we have had before and from what the media portrays. Our arrogant ruling elite has mismanaged our government and our country for years. It's time for us to take back our government and our country and run them as WE want, not as the power hungry elite has decried for too long.

Mostly fake news from a Trump clone.
Almost all of his reference notes are from: Trump Revealed; by Michael Kranish and Marc Fisher (New York:Scribner, 2016) leading me to believe he turned this out at speed while people still care about Trump so that he can make a buck. His wife is writing a second book (better researched according to him) so they can profit twice. Interestingly, his meager reference notes rarely cover where he loops off into his own strongly held opinions such as his anti-Obama blurb (pg.63). His writing style is approachable, but totally unbalanced. I would be more comfortable if his referencing was better (stronger) and more broadly based. Don't waste your time, find a better source for your information on Trump.
