Its hard to follow up a classic science fiction film, but this is about as good as it gets: the sounds, imagery, character development are all top notch. I didn't quite like a few of the fight scenes which I thought were overdone, and there was an aspect of the plot that I didn't understand: why did Wallace corp. want to kill K and kidnap Decker?

Slow moving for some but very well done. I liked this one better than the original because this one had a deeper love story. Despite the indifferent look of the protagonist throughout the movie (and it makes sense because he’s a replicant), there’s a lot of emotion in this movie.

Almost as good as "Blade Runner, Final Cut". Almost better.

One of the best films of the last decade. Every scene is beautifully shot and wonderfully written. It's a slow and deliberate marathon of a movie designed to let you think and breathe. The original is a classic but this film manages to improve on it in every way. There is so much subtext and implication it takes multiple viewings to really unpack everything. I cannot speak highly enough about this movie.

The movie was counting heavily on visual effects but lacking actions.

This sequel is much like its predecessor, which is both good and bad. 2049 takes place in the same Blade Runner world as the first movie, but is not a copy of the original and instead tells a new tale in that world. Like the original the cast is strong and the film is visually rich, but also like the original, the story can be difficult to follow because of deliberate misleads, but also due to omissions which seem to have been meant to be intentional ambiguities but which remain puzzling and distracting because they are not resolved. I am still unclear about how much of what this movie told me I am intended to believe. Near as I can tell, there are a couple of outright self-contradictions, but it’s hard to be sure when the movie is offering more than one interpretation for aspects of the plot. However, I do not intend these comments to be a negative review, as I actually enjoyed this thought-provoking and beautiful film, and it was not until I was thinking back over it the next day that I began to wonder if it all added up correctly.

Nothing special, only computer made visual effects with poor acting.
Too long and too boring story in which you need to figure out what’s going on.
Harrison Ford shows up after 1:45’’ movie is on (!) and then story goes a bit faster.
Honestly, it was a waste of time. I can use my 3hrs much much better than on bored movie. Skip it.

Where is the acting? Ryan Gosling deadpans the entire film. Not even remotely as interesting as the first.

Sad sad! I saw the original and this one made me sleepy. I was glad to finally see the credits as they were more exciting.

The cinematography is of a dark world deprived of daylight. Limited action. Dark + not-intense story = bedtime story.

Pages of quotes in IMDb including this title card introduction:

Replicants are bioengineered humans, designed by Tyrell Corporation for use off-world. Their enhanced strength made them ideal slave labor. After a series of violent rebellions, their manufacture became prohibited and Tyrell Corp went bankrupt.

The collapse of ecosystems in the mid 2020s led to the rise of industrialist Niander Wallace, whose mastery of synthetic farming averted famine. Wallace acquired the remains of Tyrell Corp and created a new line of replicants who obey. Many older model replicants - Nexus 8s with open-ended lifespans - survived. They are hunted down and 'retired'

Those that hunt them still go by the name... Blade Runner.
