In 1916, Dorothy Woodruff and Rosamond Underwood left Auburn, New York, for the wilds of northwestern Colorado. "No young lady in our town," Dorothy later commented, "had ever been hired by anybody."

A terrific audiobook--perfect for a long drive. The detailing of some of the western frontier life is a bit dry at times, but the fortitude of the settlers and the teachers, and endearing nature of the characters described carries one through.
