One of my childhood favorite movies. Monster Squad is told from a kid's perspective. And, while the main action of the story is incredibly absurd (The Mummy literally hides in a kid's closet, and Dracula has a weird affinity for dynamite), there are moments of poignant reality. The kids form a Monster Club to cope with a rocky homelives, and schoolyard bullying. Then the monsters actually show up. It also has some of the most quotable lines of the 80s. As long as you have a healthy suspension of disbelief, and love of the wacky, you're likely to enjoy this hidden gem.

Oh childhood memories and this movie go hand in hand. Can't wait to view it after almost 20 years.

Monster/action-drama. Good, funny, moves well. Like "the goonies" but w/some language.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The final battle with the monsters gets intense. Gunplay, staking vampires, exploding werewolves, and Dracula snatching a little girl. Parental Guidance suggested for young audiences.

IndyPL_KaseyP Oct 31, 2018

Coarse Language: Pre-PG-13 Rating swearing by small children Worst: A 5-year old drops a "Chickensh**" Also some homophobic language typical to 80s movies. Mostly, the swearing is in good fun, but may give some parents pause.
