"Our story begins in the squalid corridors of a maximum-security housing project, where a young girl will rise from the war-torn streets of Chicago to battle injustice in a world insane with corruption. Her fight will take her far, from the frontlines of the second American Civil War to the cold, unforgiving reaches of space. She will be called a hero, a traitor, and nearly everything in between, but all along the way, her courage, her integrity, and her unwavering commitment to that most valuable of rights--liberty--will inspire a movement that will never surrender."

A great read from storyteller Frank Miller and illustrated by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen). The book follows the story of "born survivor" Martha Washington from her childhood in the maximum security housing project Cabrini Green, to her enlistment in PAX and her battles during the Amazon War and the 2nd American Civil War, eventually saving the world.

Washington is also aided by her apache lover Wasserstein and the valkyrie clone Lt. Pearl, she foils the plots and schemes of Reagan-like President Rexall and his nefarious Surgeon General, with special appearances from other characters in the Miller universe, such as Big Guy (Rusty The Robot and The Big Guy) and tax collector Nixon (Hard Boiled). This volume is a collected works from "Give Me Liberty" all the way to "Martha Washington Dies" spanning a hundred years and includes all the special stories and one-shots. Highly recommended.

"Annoying. Very Frustrating. She will get special attention and be very clean" - Surgeon General
