Wealthy Cosimo Barletta, thought to be a widower living out a quiet life by the sea, is killed by a gunshot to the neck. As his past opens to scrutiny, Montalbano uncovers a trove of salacious photographs used to extort young women, and a history full of greed and corruption. Though resolved to find the killer, Montalbano muses on where justice lies-- in his pursuit of a suspect or with one of Cosimo's innumerable victims getting the revenge they deserved?

I have to agree with htliang. I also knew well before the end who were the murderers and this is not the first time with Camillieri. Just not worth completing after that.

I knew how this mystery would end while in the first 1/4 of the story. For this reason, and because of the disturbing content, I'm only giving it 3 stars. The book was still enjoyable for me because of the typical interesting dialogue and humor found in Camilleri's novels.
