On the outside, Gretchen Rubin had it all--a good marriage, healthy children and a successful career--but something was missing. Determined to end that nagging feeling, she set out on a year-long quest to learn how to better enjoy the life she already had. Each month, Gretchen pursued a different set of resolutions--go to sleep earlier, tackle a nagging task, bring people together, take time to be silly. She kept track of which resolutions worked and which didn't, sharing her stories and collecting those of others. Bit by bit, she began to appreciate and amplify the happiness in her life.

I very much enjoyed this book and the information/findings/experiences the author shared. For example: The most reliable predictor against being lonely is having contact with women, for both men and women. Contact with men doesn't matter. Was definitely worth my time to listen. Read by the author. If you're on the fence about this book, check out Amazon for hundreds more reviews.

This woman is so self absorbed I could not get even half way through the CD set. She says she doesn't want praise from others for her efforts, then in the next moment she is so happy to be rewarded by her husband for planning his mother's birthday and gloating about the present he gave her AT the party for the mother-in-law! I found nothing entertaining or helpful in the part I listened to and found myself annoyed with her tone and self-righteous attitude (all the while saying she is not self-righteous!).
