"In the vein of classic coming-of-age films like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, The Edge of Seventeen is a poignant and hilarious look at what it's like to be a teenager today. Growing up is hard, and life is no easier for Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld, Pitch Perfect 2), who is already at peak awkwardness when her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson, Ravenswood) begins dating her all-star brother Darian (Blake Jenner, Glee). All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever. With the help of her reluctant sounding-board (Woody Harrelson, True Detective), she soon discovers that what feels like the end of the world may just be the beginning of growing up."--Container insert.

Interesting movie about how brother and sister can influence each other for either good or bad - a little hug between brother and sister can go a far way to help to keep a positive relationship in the family.

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. The underlying message is good for every person to hear. We all get caught up in our own lives at times, and we don't stop to think how other people might be experiencing life. We all experience good things and bad, and sometimes our good means another person is experiencing bad. Also, it's really easy to feel like the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Both great messages and made heartfelt in this movie.

Yikes! a self conscious rebellious teenager faced a social situation over the course of two weeks that left her wallowing in self-pity and anger, feeling abandoned by her single mom and only brother, even her crusty father figure teacher and only friend. Hilarious script and excellent acting all around, especially Hailee Steinfeld who also starred as the spunky Mattie Ross in True Grit 2010. She is a real artist, 19 when the film was released.

One of the best high school movies in recent memory - a modern-day John Hughes-type film that holds up well when compared to '80s classics like Sixteen Candles and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Though billed as a "comedy", it's got a lot of heart and truth to it, with well-rounded, real-feeling characters that go far beyond the usual cliches you see in teen comedies. Young people will appreciate this movie because they're living it, but adults will recognize a lot in here, too - because really, not much has changed.

Hailee Steinfeld is awesome as a lovable, sarcastic, bratty teenager. I love the banter between her & Woody Harrelson's character.

Many quotes at IMDb including this on teens and their personal assistants:

My entire generation is a bunch of mouth breathers. They literally have a seizure if you take their phone away for a second, they can't communicate without emojis, and they actually think that the world wants to know that they are "eating a taco, exclamation point, smiley face, smiley face", like we give a fxck.
