The book is based on the Bible story of Jesus' parents went to Bethlehem, gave birth to Jesus and then fled to Egypt, a story of Jesus and his parents being refugees and relying on people's kindness. It makes you think about not just these Bible characters but also the refugees, especially the children in the war zones today. Great book to read with children and introducing to them the ideas of refugees and kindness. The story is relevant all year round, not just around Christmas time. There is a QR code that can be scanned and takes you to the audio reading of the book.

When I read this to my 4yo, we talked about the kindness of others. Plus, this book offers an alternative to the traditional, more religion-based version of the Christmas story. And, all proceeds go to causes for refugees. I will check this out again next holiday season.
