For the curious, the history of the world's most important cities, ancient to early medieval. If you've been turned off by the bizarre high school history teaching strategy requiring memorization of long lists of dates & events, if instead you'd just like to sit back and take the subject in at your own pace, this audio CD set is a good choice. The listening experience is somewhat like auditing a series of college lectures on the subject, with a good instructor, recorded live in the classroom. Plus you can fast forward in the few places it gets a little boring. I can pretty much guarantee you'll learn some interesting stuff you didn't know before. Good material to have on hand for those Christmas holiday parties when a guest sidles up and starts to talk about something boring like his family's latest European cruise holiday. You'll have something interesting with which to counter. Recommended.
