One of Quinn's strengths is her delightful screwball comedy sensibilities, and this is a fun example. The 8th and final book in her Bridgerton series focuses on the final Bridgerton sibling, Gregory. As his very wise mother notes, he's never had to work hard to get anything he wants, but when he ... Read More »

The final installment of the Bridgerton family series was certainly not the best and probably my least favorite of the 8 books. I had high hopes as I loved the penultimate story about the youngest Bridgerton, Hyacinth. This installment was just too unbelievable and the characters' chemistry a bit off. I still overall adore historical romances by Julia Quinn.

This was not the best book in this series.

I didn't feel like there was that much chemistry between the characters, I feel like they would be a better fit as friends, since they were more comfortable as friends than lovers. Really didn't see them more than friends.

Gregory instantly fell in love with Herimone because... well you know that romantic love that we all expect and want from books like this. Oh but Lucy, who is Herimone's BFF, doesn't believe in romantic love, but hey I don't blame her. She is very blunt and straightforward and total nonsense...only because she had not fallen in love. So Lucy tries so hard to have Herimone and Gregory fall in love.....but do things go the way they are suppose to? Nope!

The climax.... uhhh.... OK. Seemed very dramatic and anti-climatic. I rather like Lord Haselby, he was quite the interesting character, would have loved to seen more of him!

I remember being slightly dissatisfied by this, the eighth and final Bridgerton book, the first time I read the series, but upon a second reading I'm more favorably inclined. It's still not my absolute favorite of the eight, but it's a clever and funny historical romance with two very likable protagonists (and a suitably melodramatic villain), and I actually think Gregory is a really interesting hero (who benefits nicely from readers having spent seven books watching him grow up). A solid conclusion to what remains my favorite romance series evereverever.

First book of Julia Quinn's that I've read. I've started with the last book in the series so I'm not gonna bother reading them in order. Pretty good. Although he says I love you too many times for my taste. But how else can you say it if you really do?I will read the rest of the series.
