A young woman returns to West Africa and listens to the stories of four aunts, who are four of the eleven wives of her grandfather. These stories span the last 75 years of the 20ieth century and take place against the descent of the country into anarchy. While I liked the idea of these women's stories, their voices were not distinct enough from each other. One story might have been more effective.
