Paris, April 1999: Aimée Leduc is fighting off sleep deprivation as she runs her detective agency and tries to be a good single mother to her new bébé. She has no time to take on a personal investigation for a poor manouche (Gypsy) boy. But he insists his dying mother has to tell her an important secret about the unsolved murder of Aimée's father a decade ago. How can she say no? When Aimée arrives at the hospital, the boy's mother has disappeared. She was far too sick to leave on her own -- what does she know that's worth killing for?

I have read almost all Cara Black's book mysteries with detective Aimee LeDuc & Rene. I enjoyed them all. It's like visiting Paris, but I hope these things don't really happen. It's fiction.
