The Silver Child is the exciting first novel in Cliff McNish's heart-stopping new trilogy. Six children experience life-altering changes and leave the comfort of their homes far behind. They are drawn to Coldharbour - an eerie wasteland of wind, rats, seagulls, and garbage dumps. Each child has a unique gift, but they must quickly learn to use their new skills. For drawing ever closer is something vast and dreadful set to destroy them all.

A completely bizarre series that defies being tied to any one genre. It would probably fall loosely into fantasy, but with strong science fiction and dystopian elements that give it a very dark edge for children's literature (think some of the darkest and most intense moments in Harry Potter, but in an apocalyptic world) The characters are all interesting and completely creative, but it's the gripping pace and peril that really sets this book apart. At times, the story became so intense I had to take a break from reading to re-engage with reality. I completely LOVED this series.

This book is really, really weird. I kind of regret reading it, wasted lots of my time.. The Plot and the idea isn't bad, its just.. really bizzare . Some of the character's are just so annoying also ... Just overall , DIFFERENT, not my style
