"Witchfinder General" is the most brutal film I have ever seen. Nothing good here except ending it. Based on true life witchfinder Mathew Hopkins who is believed to have been responsible for the deaths of 300 women between the years 1644 and 1646. Wikipedia estimates his life began in 1620 and ended in 1647 when he died from complications of tuberculosis. That means he was a young man during his reign of terror. It has been estimated that all of the English witch trials between the early 15th and late 18th centuries resulted in fewer than 500 executions for witchcraft. Vincent Price was 56 years old when he made this film.
