A blue crayon that has been mislabeled with a red label never feels like he is very good at being red until a fellow crayon mentions he might be blue. This is a beautiful story about embracing who you are and accepting others. It is so simple, yet profound. — Molly R., North Regional Library

"Red" was actually a blue crayon, but no one knew this. Someone in the factory had applied the wrong label to him.
Poor Red just couldn't colour anything correctly. He couldn't make a red strawberry or a red anything.
His teacher thought that he needed more practice ... but more practice didn't help.
His mother thought that he needed to mix more with the other colours. That didn't help either.
The other crayons and the art supplies had many suggestions for Red. The masking tape wrapped Red tightly together, in case he was broken inside. the pencil sharpener sharpened him to a fine point - in case he wasn't "sharp" enough. And the scissors readjusted his label, in case it was too tight.
But even with all their help, Red couldn't color correctly.
One day, Red met a new friend who asked him to make a blue ocean for his boat. "I can't - I'm red." said Red. "Will you try?" asked the other crayon.
Red did try ... and his ocean was perfect - a perfect blue!
Red didn't stop there. He made a bluebird, bluebell flowers, blue jeans, blueberries, a big blue sky and even a huge blue whale.
"I'm BLUE!" he said happily, and the other crayons were very happy for him.
This heartwarming, funny and insightful story is about seeing things from a fresh perspective and finding the courage to be true to your "inner self".
