Doug, an adorable child robot, isn't satisfied with just learning downloaded facts about a city. He unplugs and goes off to explore on his own. He spends the day exploring the city and learns many things that were not on his download list such as playing in a playground and making a friend. The simple color illustrations are perfect with the text and the story is fun. It is a great book for preschool and lower elementary children.
This is a fabulous story about all of the things that can be discovered when Doug "unplugs." The pages are fairly busy including mazes and maps. I'd recommend for early elementary children.
Doug the robot spends all his time plugged in, downloading information until one day he decides he could learn so much more from unplugging and getting out in the city.
Each day being plugged in to receive information downloads by parents who want him to be smart, Doug the little robot decides to unplug himself in order to venture outside to discover more about his home city. He learns amazing things by doing, seeing, touching, listening and, above all, by interacting with a new friend. By the creator of the animated television series, Oswald.
