Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire. Then she's kidnapped by Connor "Mad" Rogan--a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run and wanting to surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive. Rogan's after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she's getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

Review excerpt: "I don’t clearly remember what made me pick up 'Burn for Me', but I do remember that I listened to it as an audiobook before I read it. I recommend listening to it, even if you’ve already read it, because Renee Raudman, the narrator, is really good. And before going any further, I would like it to be clear, I love this book. I have read it multiple times, and so far, I haven’t gotten tired of it. I will try my best to balance my love for this book with some critical analysis, but I can’t make any promises."

So good! I love Ilona Andrews' work and I highly recommend this novel! I can't get enough of these books! I almost never read fiction twice and I've read the Hidden Legacy, Kate Daniels, and Innkeeper series 3 times!! They are just so much fun! Don't let the covers throw you off, they're filled with great characters and interesting storylines. They are like watching a favourite movie, the ride is just as fun as the finish!

I read this book because I had a friend that told me I didn't read everything because I had never read a trashy paranormal romance. Well...now I have.

Honestly, I really liked it. It oddly reminded me of The Dresden Files, with the hokey, sarcastic detective/bounty hunter in a big city with a select few people they care about and is rather powerful in their own way. Then they take on a simple mystery that leads to something else that is incredibly complicated and deeper than they ever imagined.

The adventure and world was fun and easy to follow. It was the right amount of modern and magical and I liked it. BUT THEN! We had to add in the trope of when the woman says no, the man says not yet. He literally said that he will win at the end of the book. Not okay. She gave him a ton of valid reasons as to why she isn't going to be with him and he said he was going to win. She told him several times, despite her sexual urges, that she wanted to keep it professional. And he didn't listen to her. I don't care what kind of romance it is but I'm not okay with this kind.

Is it really such a foreign concept to have a trashy paranormal romance where the man and woman can respect each other? Where we go from enemies to friends with a natural progression instead of possessive? Do those books exist without being cheesy Christian fiction? I will take magic and werewolves and supernatural any day if they weren't so possessive, brooding and brutal. So yeah, two stars cause the rest was good but I will never be okay with that kind of "romance".

I think I read this in four days-- it was that awesome that I couldn't put it down! Not to sure where the paranormal romance figures into it since this one was a lot tamer than others I've read-- not that I'm complaining! But yeah, the cover to this book is definitely not an accurate capture of the love story in the book. Interesting though. I love the world building Ilona does and I loved the dynamic of Nevada's family-- too realistic! But in a good way. So. Just waiting for my sequel to arrive. Cannot wait!

I recently discovered this author and ordered all the first books in her series. I'll admit, I cringed a bit when I noticed this was "romance", but I thoroughly enjoyed every second. The world is well fleshed out and I loved the characters. I think it might even make it on to my top five fav list!

The first book in a new series delivers action and romance set in a world where magic is real.

I'm usually pretty skeptical when a beloved author decides to branch out and start a new series, but Andrew's did not disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed this all new world and its fascinating characters. However, it should be noted that this is NOT a paranormal romance despite the publisher tagging it as such. I started the book expecting romance and was a tad irked when I got to the end. Sparks defiantly do fly between the hero/heroine, but like the Kate Daniels series, it's going to be a slow burn. Hopefully, the second book is worth all this wait!

Talk about starting the series off with a BANG! A real page turner, couldn't put it down. Witty- had me laughing out loud at some of the lines. Can't wait for the next book!

I opened a writing app and began typing what I knew about Pierce.
Vain. Terminal fear of T-shirts or any other garment that would cover his pectorals.
Deadly. Doesn't hesitate to kill. Holding him at gun point would result in me being barbecued. Whee.
Likes burning things. Now here's an understatement. Good information to have, but not useful for finding him.
Antigovernment. Neither here nor there.
Hmm. So far my best plan would be to build a mountain of gasoline cans and explosives, stick a Property of US Government sign on it, and throw a T-Shirt over Pierce's head when he showed up to explode it. Yes, that would totally work. If only.

If you hang up on me again, I will slice your car into little pieces and hang on your roof like Christmas wreaths.
