Excellent live box set. But there was no booklet in mine as it said on the case.
This is part of a series of albums which present live performances of Davis and his quintet at Fillmore in 1970. It is quite extensive, in that this one is Volume 3 and it consists of 4 discs! I previously listened to and rated Volume 2 of the same "Bootleg Series" and that had 3 discs. I haven't heard Volume one yet and am not sure if there will be a Vol 4 but the band surely did a lot of performances at the Fillmore in 1970 that had never been recorded before!
It is, of course, a wonderful collection. Yes, the band is doing some of the same songs on different nights but, as is the charm of good jazz, two performances are never quite the same.
I realize I haven't been listening to much jazz released in 2014 yet and it's almost June. I guess I need to do one of my genre searches. That's when I go to a site like www.rateyourmusic.com and do a "chart" search of a year (2014) and add a specific genre to limit its output. RYM ALWAYS comes up with their Top 1000 albums of a given year but that mixes all genres together. By adding a specific genre, you can limit yourself to what you want. And I need some more 2014 jazz albums to consider.
