By the end I absolutely hated this movie. Hated it!, & I have a pretty high threshold for enjoying incoherent nonsense, image for its own sake, method acting...I've maybe seen a couple art films. This one is alternately barbaric, boring as fawk, self-indulgent, obstinately French, & by the time girlfriend breaks into sophomoric Anglophone song in the abandoned theater with the mannequin parts lying everywhere, I had positively had enough. This movie is filled with moments where you're tooling along through cool-weird, & then suddenly drop like a brick into childishly stupid-weird, or hideous-weird, or WTF-are-you-even-talking-about weird. For the sake of spectacle, the fashion photo shoot in the cemetery was pretty hilarious (quote fingers!?!), but very little else in the film supports that level of innovation, so you're left alone in a room with the characteristically maudlin & pointlessly zany machinations of French cinema. Talking cars? Chimp family? Blech. Freaking atrocious. CR

A wild ride. Whatever might be expected, this is something other!

This non-mainstream film from France is definitely an interesting piece of contemporary French cinema. Outlandish, lunatic, over-the-top, enticing: these are a few of the adjectives that came to my mind after watching this film. Strictly for the arthouse fans. In French with subtitles.

Rather interesting, but not as interesting as it tries to be or as I would have once thought it to be.

A fantasy about a world where actors pass from role to role in real life. As You Like It, "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players", you know? And if that's the case, could it be the plan of -- see the title of this film. If you're a fan of the surreal, or randomly chosen scenes, this is the film for you. The lovely Edith Scob gets a callback to her most famous role. I want her wardrobe.

from dawn to dusk, a few hours in the shadowy life of a mystic man named Monsieur Oscar.

What a romp of a film.
I loved it!

Visually spectacular! Reminds me of Luis Bunuel's films in parts but stands on its own as a remarkable and dazzling film-one of my favorites!
