This is the 18th book in this cozy mystery series. I still enjoy reading about Aunt Dimity and the main character, Laurie Shepherd. But I do wish the author would come up with more clever way of tidying up her storyline. She's done the mad run around for naught plot just a bit too often and it makes our heroine look like a dimwit.

I thoroughly enjoy this series. It's whimsical, imaginative, and generally light reading. A great escape from day-to-day life. Lori Shepherd, an American who moved to the village of Finch after she inherited a house from her "Aunt" Dimity, has settled in well (over many books in this series). This latest one explores areas nearer to Finch, with surprising results. But do start at the beginning of the series as each book builds on the previous one.

I liked it, but don't believe it's a real novel, it's beach reading, it's like being a child and having someone tell you a story. As cozy mysteries go, it's fine, and quick to read.

I couldn't get into this book, or the last few Aunt Dimity books. Early in the series, Lori Shepherd came across as young but capable. In the last few books, she comes off as rather ditsy needing to be corralled by Aunt Dimity.
