I can't believe the positive comments that have been made about this book. It makes me suspicious about who is writing them. This book was a huge letdown. I agree with the commenters who say it was a phoned in, boring book. I am sure Harris had some ghostwriter write it for her as it had no personality at all. The ending was extremely disappointing. There are so many other exciting ways she could have gone with it. Sookie and the other main characters deserved better!
I wish people wouldn't put spoilers in the Comment section.
Well the ends are now all tired up! I really liked this book.
Though I wish it hadn't gone that way for Eric!
Soooooo mamy trials for Sookie!
I haven't read this book yet, but it looks pretty good. I think I'm gonna have to order it.
The last book was not as good as the others, but was still an interesting read. The last and final book in the series left me wanting more.
Loved the last book of the series, a bit sad to finish the series ;( The ending wasn't bad, I think Charlaine Harris wrapped up everything nicely
Harris wrapped up the storylines for many of the characters we had come to know and love (or hate) throughout the series. Of course there will be haters because of who Sookie ends up with, however, with Sookie having at the very least three choices, Harris was bound to make some readers unhappy. It was a good, easy read and a very satisfying ending to the series, although maybe it was wrapped up a little too neatly.
I realize that a lot of readers were unhappy with the ending of this series, but frankly i think Harris did good, Eric has moved on Naill is in fairy for good, Claude got what he deserved and finally Sookie and Sam are together i had no compaints about the end of the series. I do wish that Harris would consider writing a new book about Harper(Grave Secrets) or Shakespear.
Like all long series that finally come to an end, this is bittersweet. I can tell the author was just trying her level best to resolve all the hanging threads that are left at the end of such a long run. I didn't like a lot of her dialogue, felt some things were definitely too contrived for words (er, to have people pop in and out for such a short period of time). Glad she realized that sticking with the vampires is courting death and they abandoned her, and she refused contact with her former boyfriend / husband after the fact. In my reality, she's off married and having babies sometime soon and that's not something that can ever happen in this series had she stayed with an undead boyfriend. Hope Charlaine develops other worlds, characters. She did write more than Sookie Stackhouse books at one point, can't wait to see what she does next.
