I have read this book 3 times over the past 2 decades. It was so fun to have the audio version to experience these characters all over again.

A masterpiece! The story sucks you in and you become friends with the characters and find yourself rooting for them. This was the second King book I ever read and knew I had to read more. I have since listened to it 2 more times on audiobook. My oldest son decided to check it out and at 14, he found the story fascinating as well. Highly highly recommend it!

I guess I'm not a SK fan. Gave up after 3rd disc.

The Stand is my all time favorite novel and I reread it at least every few years. This audio recording is excellent. I've listened to it several times over the years. The first time was long ago when it was on cassette tapes (and there were a lot of them!).

I may well give this another listen in the near future.

The Stand is a rather long book by Stephen King. Imagine the world ending by a virus that mocks a severe cold, only to kill you a day or two later. Or, at least, 99% of the population. Now, try being a survivor who has to choose good or evil. All because of a government mix up that released a super bug. How long will the survivors last? How many are there? Dubbing the bug “Captain Tripps”, the survivors on the good side must fight through an apocalyptic world and work to find Grandma Abigail, a 100+ year old woman, who can help them fight against the face of pure evil. Where do I begin? This book is HUGE, but its absolutely amazing. It starts off slow, and jumps around quite a bit, but it all comes together rather nicely. Stephen King really has way of putting you right in the shoes of the characters, and painting such an elaborate picture. This is definitely one of his longer books, but in no way does that take anything away from it! I loved every word of this book. I honestly thought at first, this is so boring, how am I going to finish it? But WOW was I wrong! I think the only thing I didn’t like was the jumping around at first and taking a bit to get exciting. Other than that, though, I don’t think there’s a bad thing I could say about this book! Except maybe how sad I was when it was over.

Great book, really draws you in from the first page and keeps you unable to put it down til the end.

Clearly one of the best books Stephen King has ever written. I recommend reading the complete and un cut version...you understand the characters much better...I was right there with them as they travel out west...it was sad to have this book end.
