* Jenny Colgan is also the author of one of my favorite chick lit books, Meet Me at the Cupcake Café. That she can write well across two different genres speaks to her skill.

* And write well she does. She has the eleventh Doctor's characterization down pat. He's innocent, dithering, sophomoric, lovable, a bit rudderless, and just...Elevenish. :)

* This story has a princess bride, Vikings, Hebridean Islanders, and a fire monster. Only a Dr. Who story could make that crazy combination work. I love it.

* The Vikings and islanders start off as enemies, but they come together to fight against the fire monster. I like the themes of cooperation, friendship, and overcoming differences. This book left me with an optimistic feeling and a smile on my face.

This is a great story for Matt Smith's Doctor. It's got monsters, it's got adventure, history and an explanation for a phenomena. Recommended for all Doctor Who fans!!
