"A pocketful of rye" stars Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. Hickson, born in 1906, was 79 in this episode and actually does very well. I thought the story held together very well from start to finish. Clearly, Hickson saw herself as a fitting Miss Marple, much better than Geraldine McEwan or Julia McKenzie. The rest of the cast were very good. I wonder how Christie came up with her plot. Also starring here is Peter Davison who played Doctor Who for 4 years, then starred as Campion, gentlemen private detective, and then as Dangerous Davies, a policeman with a unique attitude towards crime. You can also see Davison in other productions.
