But now the queen's assassin has been dispatched to fetch her--whether she likes it or not. Suddenly Merry finds herself a pawn in her dreaded aunt's plans. The job that awaits her: enjoy the constant company of the most beautiful immortal men in the world. The reward: the crown--and the opportunity to continue to live. The penalty for failure: death.

Sex, romance, drama, fantasy, and the constant threat of someone trying to kill Merry. Super good book and series!

A nice break from the train-wreck that Anita Blake is becoming. This series is faster paced, and at least justifies the volume of sex so that it doesn't grate on you and stop the story. Worth picking up.

I have followed the Anita Blake series for awhile and I am glad that I've now started this one as well. It's weird because you get a really good introduction to a series of characters at the beginning of the book that just disappear during the rest of it... but the story does suck you in. The characters from the agency will be back in next book, can't wait to see how this develops.

i knew not what i was getting into when i started this series but it came reccomended from a friend it was hard to get into but once i did i flew through the books even though the story was dark and twisted it was very entertaining though not for the faint of heart over all as a series

This book started out a little much - too much was happening too fast and it seemed a little ridiculous. However, it grew on me immensely, and I came to love it by the end. Can't wait to read the next one!
