Comment
Add a CommentI just adore the illustrations of 'Little White Rabbit', with their bold lines and refreshing spring colors. While 'Little White Rabbit' hops along he wonders/imagines what it would be like to be the things he passes in the pasture.
A great spring title for story time!
worked well at toddler time
The soft, fresh yellows, pinks, and especially greens of Henkes's illustrations make this book feel like a Spring morning. "Little White Rabbit hopped along. When he hopped through the high grass, he wondered what it would be like to be green...when he hopped over the rock, he wondered what it would be like not to be able to move." While you read, make sure to wonder about the same things Little Rabbit does--then go outside and wonder about the things you see as you hop along.
On the 2011 GoodReads Picture Book list
"The bunny of the title, the central and only character in this sweet, diaphanous tale, makes its way, page by page, through a colour field of verdant greens, bubble-gum pinks and cerulean blues – the colours of spring. What could be more welcome now than a harbinger of better, warmer, softer days to come?"
