From the bestselling author of The First Wives' Club comes her exciting new novel. An aging star author whose career is sagging... a hot new novelist taking credit for his wife's work... a lonely young Englishwoman who writes to ease her loneliness... the mother of a dead author trying desperately to bring recognition to her daughter's only work... and a publishing kingpin who pulls all the strings to make his own novel a success. The lives of these five disparate authors all interweave at one publishing house in a scathing and hilarious inside look at the business of books.

couldn't get into it. Only read a chapter

At the beginning I thought this book was going to be a collection of individual short stories (which I don't care much for). But as I kept on reading, all the different characters began converging on a principal theme. I really enjoyed this book and the way it trully protrayed the way very different people think, act, and are.
