This is an account of the training and service of a B-24 pilot who served in Indonesia and the Philippines during the last 18 months of World War II. Morotai is the island in Indonesia where he was based. Morotai was not even held entirely by the allies. Only the base was firmly held by the allies. Significant numbers of "stranded", but armed Japanese soldiers were also present. Boeman describes the missions to distant islands and obscure bodies of water and the physical operation of a B-24 in laborious detail. If you ever want to know what it was like to operate a B-24 under the primitive conditions that existed at that time and in that place, this is your book.
