"Miss Lonelyhearts" and especially "The Day of the Locust" are great stories, but I could have easily done without the other two in this collection. The language in this collection highlights the violence of living in LA in the silver screen era. Every day occurrences are told in graphic detail with biting language, connected with horrific events told in a glossy, almost forgotten way. This juxtaposition is what I enjoyed most.
