Released in 1969 - "Abbey Road" would be the 11 studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. The recording sessions for the album were the last in which all four Beatles participated. Although "Let It Be" was the final album that the Beatles completed before the band's dissolution in April 1970.

"Abbey Road" is a rock album of 17 tracks that incorporates genres such as blues, pop, and progressive rock, and it also makes prominent use of the Moog synthesizer, as well.

The album's cover, which features the four band members walking across a zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios, has become one of the most famous and imitated images in the history of popular music.

Great record.

it came down to this lp or SOMETHING NEW for my first music purchase, other than 45s. I chose this one. I think I chose correctly. I loved side 2, the one with the medley that repeats the theme of YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY. side 1 is composed of distinct songs, more the tough meat of the sessions. I especially dug (loved) the portion beginning with CARRY THAT WEIGHT, and including the guitar workout divided between, in turn, Paul, then George, then, John. I appreciated that they were differentiating themselves in this way, and Ringo's only recorded drum solo really sets the stage well. SOMETHING, one of two George songs on Side 1, rivals Derek and the Dominos' LAYLA as songs competing for George's wife's affection.Man, are they different. HERE COMES THE SUN was written in Eric's backyard, after a rain storm (like here, they happen frequently in England). OH DARLING has been referred to as a "raver;" paul sang take after take, to get his voice raspy and hoarse, 'cause that's the way he wanted it to sound. COME TOGETHER was first written as a campaign song for acid head Timothy Leary, but taken back when John realized it was 'Beatle-good.' John had later to pay Chuck Berry's music publishing firm a royalty %, as it borrows so much from one of chuck's songs. This record has some of the lushest production values in the Beatles catalog. Yeah, I still give it 4/5.

I wish I could make my children understand just how much of a groundbreaking group the Beatles were. They defied all the so called social conventions of the period and appealed to all races, ethnicities, genders. They truly made us appreciate the diversity of music here in the colonies. Made so many wonderful songs, and no one album could ever do them justice.

A spectacular album. Side 2 is a masterpiece. The best side to any album.

The last album the Beatles recorded. After the antagonistic Let it be sessions, they wanted to end the relationship by showing the world they were going out on top.
If you take out the overblown Maxwell track, the album flows seemlessly from one classsic to another.
We shall never see their like again.
