For Nonfiction Writers: Nonfiction Basics

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
St. Louis Park

Description

All good writing – including creative nonfiction – has certain “basics” in common. This list of basics includes, but is not limited to: the balance between scene and summary; attention to specificity and detail; development of characters, including effective dialogue; and deliberate use of point-of-view. Using various writing exercises, we will focus on each of these aspects or techniques, discussing how and when to incorporate these essentials into all of our written work. Part of a four-part series, “For Nonfiction Writers.” Attendance at all four sessions not required. Collaborator: The Loft Literary Center. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
