PreK-grade 3. Join us to listen to a read-aloud story related to art and culture of the Russian region and then create an art project to take home. Led by Kelly McKay, Director of Education at The Museum of Russian Art. Materials provided. Collaborator: The Museum of Russian Art (TMORA).
Friday, January 23: We'll enter the strange and magical world of Russian folktales to read "The Flying Witch," written by Jane Yolen and illustrated by Vladimir Vagin. Then, we'll create our own artworks inspired by Russian folk-art traditions.
Tuesday, February 17: We'll be surprised by what we learn as we read "A Royal Ride: Catherine the Great's Great Invention," written by Kristen Fulton and illustrated by Lucy Fleming. Then, we'll create one-of-a-kind inventions of our own!
Friday, April 3: Learn about a special painting tradition as we read "Rechenka's Eggs," by Patricia Polacco. Then, we'll create our own artworks inspired by the colorful egg designs.
