Part of the Our Stories, Ourselves series collaboration with More Than a Single Story that highlights BIPOC writers and artists through panel conversations and writing workshops.

Join moderator Sun Yung Shin and authors Art Coulson, Cristina Oxtra, Crown Shepherd and illustrator Emiko Rainbow for a panel conversation designed to help BIPOC children’s book creators navigate the path to publication. Topics include crafting unique and marketable story ideas, writing and revising for young audiences, finding agents or publishers, managing submissions and rejections, and building a resilient creative mindset.

Whether you're just starting or refining your approach, this workshop offers practical insights to bring your stories to life and into the hands of young readers. Sun Yung Shin is an award-winning poet, writer, editor, children’s book author and cultural worker.

Art Coulson is a writer of Cherokee, English and Dutch and the author of more than one dozen books, graphic novels and plays.

Cristina Oxtra is a Filipino American author and has written 16 books for children.

Emiko Rainbow is a Japanese-Caucasian American illustrator, muralist and designer.

Crown Shepherd is an author and reading advocate.
