PreK-grade 3. Join us to listen to a read-aloud story related to art and culture of the Russian region and then create an art project to take home. Led by Kelly McKay, Museum Learning Manager at The Musuem of Russian Art. Materials provided. Collaborator: The Museum of Russian Art (TMORA).
Tuesday, September 23: We will read "Mushroom in the Rain," adapted from the Russian by Mirra Ginsburg, illustrated by Jose Aruego and Ariane Dewey. Then, we will create our own mushroom sculptures using recycled paper and everyday objects.
Friday, October 17: We will read "The Black Geese: A Baba Yaga Story From Russia," retold by Alison Lurie and illustrated by Jessica Souhami. Then, we will create artwork inspired by the beautiful collage-style illustrations in the storybook.
Tuesday, November 4: We will read "Little Daughter of the Snow," by Arthur Ransome, edited by Shena Guild and illustrated by Tom Bower. Then, we will create our own snowy winter scenes using a combination of watercolor and collage techniques.
