Striving for Resilience Film Club: The Plastic-Free Challenge

All Day
Ridgedale

Description

The Plastic-Free Challenge begins February 1. The month-long challenge will help you reduce plastic consumption, especially single-use plastics, in ways that fit best in your lifestyle and are most impactful to reducing your footprint.

To accompany the challenge join Ridgedale Library in exploring two Kanopy streaming movies to learn more about plastic’s history, its impact on our environment, and how to manage, reduce, and eliminate plastic waste.

Then attend a community program on the topic led by Hennepin County Environment and Energy Department at Ridgedale Library on February 15 from noon-1 p.m.

Films:

The Story of Plastic

The Story of Plastic is a searing expose, uncovering the ugly truth behind plastic pollution and the false solution of plastic recycling. Different from every other plastic documentary you've seen, The Story of Plastic presents a cohesive timeline of how we got to our current global plastic pollution crisis and how the oil and gas industry has successfully manipulated the narrative around it. From the extraction of fossil fuels and plastic disposal to the global resistance fighting back, The Story of Plastic is a life-changing film depicting one of the world's most pressing environmental issues.

Plastic Earth

Plastic Earth is the first documentary feature film of its kind to cover the solutions and technologies being worked on in the world today to combat and eventually solve the plastic crisis that our world is facing.
