Join us to celebrate the book launch of "Art and Artifact: Murals From the Minneapolis Uprising," the catalog accompanying an exhibition of murals created in Minneapolis and St. Paul after the murder of George Floyd. The book will be celebrated with a 1-hour program featuring speakers Howard Oransky, director of the Katherine E. Nash Gallery; Amira McClendon, local artist and curator of the exhibition; Leesa Kelly, activist and founder of Memorialize the Movement; and Seitu Jones, local artist and creator of the book cover. The program will be followed by 15 minutes for Q&A.
“Art and Artifact” is on display at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery at the University of Minnesota, in collaboration with the grassroots organization Memorialize the Movement, September 10-December 7. Co-sponsored by the Givens Foundation for African American Literature and the Loft Literary Center.
