Creative Nonfiction Basics

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Plymouth

Description

All good writing – including creative nonfiction – has certain “basics” in common. This list of basics includes but is not limited to: the balance between scene and summary; attention to specificity and detail; development of characters, including effective dialogue; and deliberate use of point-of-view. Using various writing exercises, we will focus on each of these aspects or techniques, discussing how and when to incorporate these essentials into all of our written work. Collaborator: The Loft Literary Center. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
